Exchange a foreign driving license in Poland.

8. Indian Driving License won’t be taken at the PESEL office along with the application.

Poland Driving licenses are two types:
1. If you don't have an Indian Driving License, you have to give Theory and Practical Exams.
2. If you have an Indian Driving License, you have to take only a Theory Test.
Theory Test: We have two Websites (premium) that give a complete set of questions and Answers. I heard it almost 1600 Q&A.
It will take approx 2 Weeks time to study.
So, Book an exam two weeks before and Prepare for two weeks, then give an exam.

In Krakow we have two exam centers -
a) Bronowice center - Not available for two wheeler license exam.
b) Nowa Huta center - available both car and two wheeler license exam.
If we are selected for PKK in both licenses (Car and two-wheeler license), we must take separate exams for each. i.e we have to write two exams.
Exam fee: 50 PLN
1. Translate your Indian driving license to Polish. It cost 50 PLN.
2. With that translation, go to the PESEL office (town hall) and pay 100 PLN and get the PKK number. Take the original Indian Driving License with you.
Select B Driving License.
3. Install the above app on your mobile and study 2000 Q&A to prepare the exam
4. Pay 50 PLN for exam and give. You can write the exam N number of time until you pass the exam. Usually 2 to 4 attempts it will take to clear the exam.
5. To submit your original Indian Driving License: Once you passed the exam, again you need go to the PESEL office (Urząd /town hall).
After some time (Sometimes it takes 2 months) Mail to inf.warsaw@mea.gov.in and they will confirm if they have received your license, following up with Urząd so that they send it to Indian embassy.
6. Go to Warsaw Indian Embassy to collect your Original Indian Driving License. Appointment not needed for collection.
Another experience on getting a Driving License In Poland:
1. Raised request on esp.pwpw.pl, but the application got rejected with the remarks ‘Please submit an application manually’. Note: I have already paid 100 zloty in Info-car as fees.
2. I went to. Urzad ‘Wola/Warsaw’, they asked for ‘’
1. Embassy letter confirming the License is valid one
2. Its translation
3. Religious certificate as I wear turban ‘The first time I had this experience, but from Gurudwara, I got to know that’s a common request and they do provide such certificate.’

3. After all this, along with 100 Zloty fees (paid in urzad), I was asked to come after two days to collect PKK.
4. The very next day, I received the message to collect PKK and thus got it.
5. Then I booked my theory exam after five days. (I paid 50 zloty for the exam)
6. I prepared for the exam for the last three days and cleared (got 72 marks).
7. When I enquired at the reception of the exam centre, they asked me to go to Urzad after two days to inform you that you have cleared the exam.
8. I did the same and was informed by Urzad that I would collect the License after 10 days.
Telangana Driving License Holders DL validation issue in Parivahan website:
The Telangana state Driving License details are currently not available on the Parivahan Website. You may need to contact the Telangana RTA (TRTA) at support-td@telangana.gov.in to get the details updated in Parivahan. If TRTA responds to your email, the details will be updated in Parivahan. If not, your DL details won’t be available on the Parivahan website. Due to this issue, we are unable to get the Poland DL after clearing the Poland DL theory exam.
Solution for this issue:
You can submit the License certificate to Urzad office
Fill in the below PDF file, print it out, and submit it to the Indian Embassy Warsaw or Krakow Consular office. Once they verify it, they will send a message to pay the fee of 108 PLN. After two - three weeks, the Embassy will issue a certificate, and we have to submit it to the Urzad office.
FAQs:
Query: When exchanging an Indian license, must it be an Indian international license or a normal one?
Answer: Regular/Normal Indian Driving License.
Query: But can we drive with an Indian license for a period? For example, I can drive in the US every time I enter for up to 3 months with an Indian license.
Answer: Nope. You need an international license if you want to continue driving in the EU without a license from one of the EU countries.
Domestic driving licences issued in countries that have not ratified the 1968 Vienna Convention (such as the United States or India) may not be recognised in Poland. Drivers who hold such licences usually have to obtain an international driving permit in order to be allowed to drive in Poland for the period of up to 6 months from the date of entry into the country. Moreover, holders of such licences are required to pass the driving theory test in order to exchange their driving licence for a Polish one.
Query: International driving license issued in India will valid in Poland, if yes, how many months?
An international driving permit issued in countries that are parties to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic is valid for 6 months in Poland. After 185 days of residence in Poland, it must be exchanged for a Polish driving licence.
Query: After passing the exam, can I go to the Urzad office the next day to exchange the license, or do I need to wait?
Answer: Not the next day. You need to wait for communication or at least change the status of your ticket online. In my case, I just went after about 2 weeks and got it.

Hi Satya, great info my man. One question: I am more of a rider than a driver. My Indian DL is valid for both cars and bikes. Thinking of exchanging it for a Polish one, will the Polish one cover only cars or both bikes and cars?
