One Experience:
Information about "India Post" International courier Service, Nagpur.
1. Please physically visit the India post office.
2. Weight- Maximum 1 box should only weigh 18 kgs.
3. Prices- they vary as per weight. The more weight you have, the less price you pay.
(My experience- I have sent 50kgs of a courier that included all spices, crockery, clothes, stationary and God idols Each box weighed differently as an entire 50 kg was not possible in 1 box. so some were around 11 kg,15 kg etc). It cost me around 20k INR. So when you visit the office ask them for the prices on the amount of weight that you will be sending. Generally, they tell you about 18 kg price.
3. Materials -
What items can you pack?
1. Items like steel crockery, spices(all), medicines, stationery like pens, pencils, erasers, refills, notebooks, books etc.
What is not allowed?
1. Stationary that are not allowed- punching machine, stapler, sharpeners etc.
2. Fragile crockery - no glassware at all.
3. Not allowed items - liquid like oil, ghee, perfumes, pickles.
4. sharp objects- razor, knife, cutter, peeler, scissors, etc
Packing- You will require bubble wrap, brown tape, rough sheets of paper, a cutter, a knife, a declaration form, and Aadhaar card copies.
1. Take hardcover boxes (if you can manage without any names on it that's great but if can't get such then also it's fine) . Cut bubble wrap according to box size and place it inside ( min 2 layers) . Put all the items inside, count the number of items inside the box and make a note of it somewhere on a piece of paper or diary, then cover with bubble wrap on top and seal the box with brown tape( only brown tape is allowed). Weigh the box once before covering it completely to avoid being overweight.
2. Cover the entire box with brown tape. No name should be visible on the box.
3. Weigh the box once to understand the final amount of weight it holds.
4. When you visit the office they will give you a "custom declaration form" This form consists of all the fields that need to be filled in before sending a courier. ( fields like to and from, weight of the box, value of the box(this is the approximate price that your box hold for example you have 10 kg of box and the value could be 5-6k , this is taken as by mistake or by negligence of the authority if you miss any item you get a refund of that amount) no of items (same for no of items try to note everything as if anything goes missing you can file complain)etc are mandatory).
5. Fill out the customs declaration form, and keep copies of Adhar card ready with your signature, phone number and name on it.
6. Take a plain white paper and write the address from whom it is sent to where it is going in bold with name and phone number included on it. Paste that on the top of the
box and cover it it with white tape. Please do not use fevicol Or Fevistick.
5. Visit the post office - timing 10:30 to 4:30 .
6. Real process starts here. The Post Office officer will weigh each box, then make a receipt and will ask you to submit a declaration form and Aadhar card. Then will make a receipt, and you make a payment and receive a receipt where your tracking id is mentioned. You will receive a msg of booking the parcel. Here they will tell you that it will take 20-30 days to reach but you receive the parcel in less than 15 days.
Note to remember:- for each box you need 2 declaration forms and 2 Aadhaar cards.
This was the process.
Now sharing experience-
I got all the boxes in extremely good condition. The way I packed, I got the same way. No damage to anything. It was absolutely smooth process with an affordable price
